The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the flagship of the Californian company, and will arrive within a year. Although there is still a long time left for its presentation, rumors are already lurking and are going to revolutionize the terminal. We tell you all about the latest leak, which reveals what the screen will be like.
This new device will bring with it a notable evolution: a Reduced Dynamic Islandthanks to an improvement in its Face ID technology. This novelty, advanced by technology analyst Jeff Pu, promises that the next iPhone 17 Pro will redesign one of the most distinctive visual elements of the device.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a larger useful screen size
This small notch at the top of the iPhone screen will see its size reduced, something that users demand and that they will finally have. In addition to this, Apple will introduce a flat lens technology called Metalens in the Face ID system.
This type of lens, more advanced than traditional curved lenses, allows for much more precise light focusing and, therefore, takes up less space in the device design. Unlike a curved lens, which redirects light toward the image sensor, the metalens manages to focus light through microscopic patterns etched into its surface, giving it a flat, thin structure. Therefore, the screen will have a greater usable surface area, something that many requested.
Jeff Pu, in a recent research note, explained that this technology will allow the size of the Dynamic Island in the iPhone 17 Pro Max to be reduced. However, he clarified that this change will not be available in the iPhone 17 Pro model or in other models in the series, being reserved exclusively for the highest-end model.
Smaller Dynamic Island on iPhone 17
The Dynamic Island is one of the distinctive elements of the latest iPhone, housing the front camera and the Face ID system, and has allowed a more intuitive interaction with the device. Reducing its size on the iPhone 17 Pro Max would not only make an aesthetic difference, but could free up a valuable screen spacethus improving the viewing experience.
Although Apple has not officially confirmed the details of this update, the adoption of metalens represents an important advance that is in line with the company’s philosophy: improving functionality and design without compromising the usability of the device. Reducing the Dynamic Island would not only benefit aesthetics, but would possibly facilitate the inclusion of other components in the device, or even a more immersive screen, something that users value in high-end models.
Apple plans to introduce the iPhone 17 series in September 2025and with this new metalens technology, this terminal is emerging as a true advance in mobile technology. According to Pu, more details about how Apple will integrate this new system into its Face ID could emerge in the coming months, especially given the company’s focus on the security and accuracy of its devices.
