Mollie, which has been aiming for several years to become the Apple of payments, introduced the Apple firm’s Tap to Pay functionality for its French (German and Dutch) customers. This new offering allows small and medium-sized businesses to accept contactless payments directly through the Mollie app on iPhone, without additional hardware investment or maintenance. The iPhone therefore becomes an ultra compact and practical TPE.
Mollie activates Tap To Pay functionality

- Immediate Accessibility : Mollie’s approximately 200,000 customers in France, the Netherlands and Germany can now use this feature from the Mollie app on iPhone XS or later, running the latest version of iOS.
- No Additional Material : No need to purchase, install or manage dedicated card readers.
- Simplicity of payment : Merchants can accept contactless payments, including credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, directly from their iPhone.
- Improved security : NFC technology ensures secure transactions. Apple does not store any card or transaction information, either on the device or on its servers.
How does Tap To Pay work?
With Tap To Pay, when paying, the customer simply brings their contactless payment method close to the merchant’s iPhone, thus guaranteeing a fast and secure transaction. The feature also includes the ability for the customer to enter a PIN, with options suitable for everyone. You obviously have to go through the company’s app.
As a reminder, this new feature allows businesses to use their iPhone daily to not only accept contactless payments but also to track transactions, manage reimbursements, access financing, and simplify accounting. An additional advantage for Mollie in a very competitive sector, particularly with Stripe and Square.
