In iOS 26, Apple introduced a number of new features, many of which are related to Apple Intelligence. However, the company failed to report on the delayed Siri updates during WWDC25. These were supposed to arrive alongside an Argo-style iOS 18 update this year.

However, company executives have confirmed that we won’t see these Siri updates until next year. And Mark Gurman has confirmed that the company plans to release this Siri improvement alongside iOS 26.4, an update that typically launches in late March or early April.

All the new Siri features that have been delayed

There are several Siri features that Apple showcased at WWDC24, where it unveiled iOS 18, that have yet to be released. Apple hasn’t explained the exact reason for this delay, only that it wants everything to work correctly before releasing it to the public.

These improvements were expected to arrive alongside iOS 18.4 , which expanded Apple Intelligence to more countries and languages . However, we didn’t see any of the new features now expected in iOS 26.4:

  • Personal Context. Apple announced that Siri would use your messages, emails, photos, and events to help you in a personalized way. For example, we can ask Siri for a recipe that a contact sent us last week.
  • On-screen Awareness. Siri was supposed to be able to “see” what’s on your screen and act accordingly. If someone sends you a photo with an address, it can recognize it and add it to a contact or use it to navigate to it. Or if you see a photo with a contact, you can ask Siri to send it directly to them.
  • App Intents. Siri was supposed to allow complex actions to be performed within and between apps. These include things like moving files from one app to another or editing photos in a specific app and then sending them to someone.

In addition to these features, Apple is also developing a major Siri enhancement that would utilize its own LLMs. A Large Language Model is a type of artificial intelligence model that uses deep learning techniques to understand and generate human language. This way, Siri would be able to respond better and in a less robotic manner. This new feature may also arrive with iOS 26.4.
