With the beginning of the year, in Spain, a new traffic rule has begun that requires users to carry a V16 beacon in their vehicles, and to turn it on in case of an accident or problem on the road that causes us to leave the vehicle in a place where it should not be.
To improve the safety of other drivers, this beacon sends data about the location of that user, thus being able to avoid more accidents, since apps like Google Maps, Waze or Apple Mapswill indicate this problem, without other users having to report it manually, as well as with more precision. However, we can also see it manually.
How to view beacon map from an iPhone
This method will not only serve to view the active and recent beacons from an iPhone, but you can also do it from another mobile phone with an Android system, or directly from the browser of a computer, whether Windows or Mac, since everything will be done through a web pagewhich is not official, but collects the information from the DGT, and shows it in a much simpler, faster and more effective way, so we recommend its use if we want to anticipate an accident, or we do not have a real-time browser app that can help us.
To do this, we will have to enter this linkand simply agree to see the map. It doesn't have much more mystery, since once done, the map of Spain will appear with all the beacons. Among them, we will see two colors, one in yellow, which shows us that it is still active at this moment, and another in black, which represents that, a few minutes ago, it was, but that it is no longer on, trying to indicate that the danger could have passed, but that we have to be careful anyway, because it may simply have been left without a pillar, for example.
Likewise, when you click on one of these, more will appear information, such as the exact point where it is, its orientation, if the road is two-way, or the time it has been on. We can also create a direct route through Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps, in case we want to go there.
If we activate the V16 beacon in a place other than a road, such as in the center of a city, from home, it will not appear, since it will be understood that it is an error and we are testing it, so this map is very interesting to know if ours is authorized or not, since, if it appears there, we can verify it, but doing so at a point that does not correspond will not show us anything, since, as we say, it will not appear, whether it is a good one or not.
