Telegram improves its verification system
Telegram recently introduced a new feature allowing official third-party services to verify users and chats, aiming to strengthen the fight against scams on its platform.
This initiative is distinct from the existing verification process for public figures and organizations. Accounts and chats verified by third-party services will display a specific icon to the left of their name, different from the traditional blue check mark. By viewing the profile of an account or chat verified by a third party, users will be able to identify the department responsible for the verification and understand the reasons for this validation.

Only services with an official bot verified by Telegram are eligible to become third-party verifiers. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat and VK. This measure aims to prevent scams and reduce misinformation on the platform. This development comes a few months after the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in France following accusations of illegal activities facilitated by the platform.
Since then, Telegram has updated its privacy policy, disabled some misused features, and changed its approach to moderation. Furthermore, Telegram reached profitability last year, with revenues exceeding $1 billion.
In addition to this update, Telegram is also rolling out new search filters to make it easier to locate certain discussions, the ability to scan QR codes via the app’s built-in camera on iOS and Android, as well as a feature allowing to transform digital gifts into NFTs.
