Apple may be planning a spectacular design for its 2027 iPhone, the 20th anniversary iPhone. It goes without saying that the iPhone underwent a massive design overhaul for its tenth anniversary: the iPhone X was a true game-changer, introducing numerous changes that can still be seen in today’s iPhones.
The Information has shared a report that reveals a wealth of information about Apple’s iPhone plans. Among them, we have the possibility that Apple will increase the number of iPhone launch events, spreading them out over two throughout the year. But they have also shared information about the iPhones of 2027, when the iPhone will turn 20 years old.
The iPhone we’ve all dreamed of will arrive in 2027.
According to this information, Apple is preparing a dream iPhone for the device’s twentieth anniversary. This new design will focus on the display, as was the case with the iPhone X, although we’ll also have other important new features.
The iPhone XX, iPhone 20, or whatever Apple wants to call it, will be an all-screen iPhone, with barely any side bezels. Apple has worked to significantly reduce bezels in recent generations, but this model is said to go a step further.
But that won’t be the only new feature. The report claims we won’t have any type of hole or perforation on the screen, neither a notch nor a Dynamic Island. This means the device’s front camera and all the sensors that enable Face ID would be placed below the iPhone’s screen.
Apple is expected to take a step forward with the iPhone 18, hiding only the Face ID sensors under the display, but keeping a hole for the front camera. A teaser for the real design change coming next year.
It’s logical to think that this design will only be available in the Pro and Pro Max models, or in a single individual model. Apple could make a move similar to the one it made with the iPhone X, which was introduced alongside the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. This way, we could have several iPhone 19s and a special iPhone 20 or iPhone XX for the 20th anniversary.
There’s still a long way to go until that moment arrives, but if we already have information, it means that Apple has already begun planning this iPhone and looking for suppliers capable of offering what it needs. The iPhone X surprised us all by inaugurating a new design line that has been maintained for a decade. It’s possible that this iPhone will lay the design foundations for Apple’s next iPhones.
