After more than six years of good and loyal service, the Apple Watch Series 4 is now entering early retirement. Before becoming totally obsolete, it appeared in Apple’s official list of vintage products. An Apple Watch which was a huge success in its time and which is still on many wrists today.
R.I.P.
Apple just added Apple Watch Series 4 to his list of vintage products. Launched in 2018, this watch featured a thinner case and a 30% larger screen than previous models. Not forgetting the introduction of ECG and fall detection.
Products are considered vintage by Apple when they have not been sold for more than five years, but less than seven years. During this period, Apple and authorized service providers may still offer repairs, subject to availability of parts. Once this period has expired, the products become obsolete and are no longer eligible for hardware support.
In addition to the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple has recently added other devices to its list of vintage products, including the first HomePod, the iPhone X, and the first generation AirPods. These products, although launched less than a decade ago, are now considered vintage due to the rapid evolution of technology and the shorter life cycles of electronic devices.
It is important for users of these devices to note that although hardware support is still possible during the vintage period, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find replacement parts. After seven years, when products are declared obsolete, Apple completely stops providing repair services for these devices.
