Samsung is preparing the launch of its next high-end smartphones and, for a while, rumors have suggested that the presentation of these devices will take place on January 22. This information was correct, since Samsung has just published its invitation for the next Unpacked event and it will be well organized on this date. Samsung’s keynote will be broadcast online at 7 p.m. (Central European Standard Time).

AI forward

This Samsung event will allow us to discover the new Galaxy S25 series, as well as its new AI features. As it did in 2024, Samsung will once again rely on artificial intelligence to promote its high-end smartphones. Indeed, in his invitation, the manufacturer writes: Prepare for more natural and intuitive AI. The next evolution of Galaxy AI is coming and it will change the way you interact with the world every day. The new Galaxy S series is poised to once again set the bar for mobile AI experiences today and in the future.”

For the moment, Samsung does not indicate what the new AI features of the Galaxy S25 will be. But in any case, the stakes are high, to the extent that Samsung must offer artificial intelligence capable of competing with Apple Intelligence which is integrated into iPhones. For example, Samsung could present a new version of its Bixby assistant, which relies on large language models. Indeed, the Korean giant has developed technology comparable to ChatGPT, which it already uses to increase the productivity of its employees. Samsung could also continue to rely on its partnership with Google to integrate new features based on Gemini on its devices. For example, it is rumored that Samsung could offer free access to Gemini Advanced (the paid version of Gemini) to its users.

A new era for Android smartphones

Samsung fans are also eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Galaxy S25 series processor(s). Indeed, this year, the Android ecosystem has an ultra-powerful component that allows manufacturers to compete with the iPhone without any problem. This is the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is based on Qualcomm’s Oryon technology. According to the latter, the Snapdragon 8 Elite has a 45% more efficient CPU, with a 44% improvement in power efficiency, and a 40% more efficient GPU, with a 40% improvement in power efficiency.

And the good news is that according to recent rumors, the international version of the Galaxy S25 should make use of this ultra-powerful processor. But that’s not all, since sources even suggest that Samsung has collaborated with Qualcomm to develop a more optimized version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip for its smartphones. But, of course, at the moment this information is not yet official.

Other important announcements

Otherwise, Samsung could also take advantage of its keynote to say more about the Moohan project, its mixed reality headset. As a reminder, this Vision Pro competitor will use the new Android XR platform. However, it is unlikely that this headset will be released this first quarter.
