Recently, our colleagues at MacRumors published an article, based on information from an anonymous source, indicating that Apple could launch the iPhone SE 4 at the same time as the iOS 18.3 update this January. But this information was denied by journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who is one of the most reliable sources of information on future Apple products.
In a publication on the social network According to the journalist, this means that the next iPhone SE will launch before the release of the iOS 18.4 update, by April, “if everything goes according to plan.”
Furthermore, Apple might not just launch the iPhone SE 4. Mark Gurman is indeed talking about another product: a new version of the iPad.
iPhone SE 4 or iPhone 16E?
If Apple does not break with its traditions, the next affordable iPhone should be an “iPhone SE”. However, sources indicate that the firm could abandon this brand and name the next affordable model “iPhone 16E”. In other words, it would no longer be a different category of iPhone, but a model that complements the iPhone 16 series released in September.
For the moment, caution is required, since this information comes from unofficial sources. However, by releasing an iPhone 16E instead of a new iPhone SE, Apple would indicate to consumers that this new model has more in common with the iPhone 16, than with the last iPhone SE released in 2022.
