During the month of September, along with iOS 18, other operating systems have been launched, belonging to the rest of the equipment, be it Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, etc. Among them, the one for computers would be called macOS Sequoia, or what is the same, version 15.0, however, it brings a problem for lovers of google chrome.
Apparently, despite all the new features that it has shown us, very interesting, and with very good resource optimization, it has one that we don’t like so much, and that is the performance of Google Chrome, which although we don’t know if the problem is from Apple or Google, would be consuming a lot of resources in this version.
Don’t use Google Chrome on macOS Sequoia
If you have installed this version, you may have seen how the system is slower, consumes much more battery, and you do not navigate the way you did in the previous one, however, your friend, who uses the same Mac, says It’s going great, even better than before. What is all this due to? Well, basically the culprit of this is Google Chrome, and if you do a performance testor you open the panel where the energy consumption, resources, etc. will be shown, you will notice that this browser doubles or triples Safari.
As we said, we do not know if it is something from Apple, which wants to eliminate competition, or that Google itself has not yet developed a compatible and stable version of this operating system, which is still very new.
Be that as it may, the problem is serious, since you will notice how the Mac runs hotter, barely has battery life, and has performance issueswhich will make you go from a great laptop to one from many more years ago, as if you were using the Intel processor again, since let’s remember that to have this version, you must use an M1 or higher, since they are the only ones compatible with Sequoia due to the need for more power to work with Apple Intelligence.
This applies to other programs, which apparently are also achieving higher consumption than what they were offering in other versions, so we will have to be careful, depending on the use we make of the Mac, and eliminate or not use these, unless necessary, at least until it is fixed, as it could negatively affect the overall performance of the computer.
And you, have you seen any other program that is consuming resources above average? If so, leave us a comment, since many of us may have been using it for years, and because of this, we believe that they are not to blame for the poor performance of the computer, and yes, they may be, as has happened with Google Chrome, and We hope they solve it soon, since it is one of those apps that most users, despite having a Mac, use, due to many advantages over Safari, at certain points.
