Apple is back with one of those seemingly minor features that, in practice, can completely change the way we use the iPhone. According to a recent leak shared by the YouTube channel Front Page Tech, which has been very active in recent days, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models will include a new feature in the Camera app that content creators are going to love.

This new feature would allow you to record video with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, without having to install any external applications, as the device would do so completely natively.

Dual Recording on the iPhone 17 Pro

While this could already be done through third-party apps like Snapchat or FilMic Pro, Apple is reportedly ready to integrate this feature completely natively into iOS 19, reserving it solely for its most advanced devices. This isn’t just a technical improvement, but a strategic move to strengthen the iPhone’s presence on social networks like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where more and more users are looking for intuitive, fast tools to generate content without complications.

With this new feature, you’ll be able to record yourself with the front camera while capturing what’s happening in front of you with the rear camera, all from the native Camera app. The resulting video will feature a large image of the rear camera footage and a small box with the footage taken by the selfie camera at the top of the screen.

Samsung has already adopted this feature with the Galaxy S21, so they are years ahead of the Californians, who have decided to wait to launch this feature in a more polished and integrated way. In fact, according to the source, Jon Prosser, it would arrive exclusively to the Pro models of the iPhone 17, although the reason for this limitation is unknown, but it possibly has to do with the ability to process two high-quality video streams at the same time without affecting the device’s performance.

When is iOS 19 coming?

We’ll most likely find out at the WWDC, or Worldwide Developers Conference, which will take place on June 9th, and will reveal what iOS 19 will be like in full. Meanwhile, the new iPhone lineup, spearheaded by the iPhone 17 Pro, will be unveiled at the traditional Keynote held in early September. The most interesting thing is that a major redesign is expected this year, at least regarding the camera module, which will be completely redesigned.

With this commitment to dual recording, Apple is not only responding to a current trend, but also setting the pace for what could be a new form of communication: closer, more direct, and more comprehensive. And it does so, as always, within its own ecosystem. We’ll just have to wait a few months to see if this leak becomes reality… and if the iPhone 17 Pro also becomes the new must-have for digital creators.
