The differences between the Xiaomi Pad 7 and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro are very clear. While both share certain features such as their screen or battery, their processors and cameras are very different, with the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro standing out for offering us greater potential thanks to its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 of the Xiaomi Pad 7 or its 50MP camera compared to the 32MP of the standard model.
Well, the truth is that the Xiaomi Pad 7 has a key detail that makes it much better than the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. A big difference that has gone unnoticed by everyone, but that makes a difference in its durability. And we’re not talking about resistance to use, but rather support, updates, and functionality.
Many more Android updates and for longer
Even though the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is a significantly more advanced tablet than the Xiaomi Pad 7, the latter actually has better support, especially looking into the future. Xiaomi has confirmed that its Xiaomi Pad 7 will receive updates until March 2031, while the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro will “only” receive them until March 2028.
Furthermore, as we can see in the image obtained from Xiaomi Security Center, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro will be updated to Android 16 and Android 17. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Pad 7 will go much further, updating not only to Android 18 but also to Android 19.
In short, if we’re looking for a tablet that will last for years and also continue to receive updates and support, the Xiaomi Pad 7 is far superior to the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. However, if we also need maximum performance, things change, and it’s much more difficult to decide between one or the other.
