Meta has embedded its artificial intelligence into WhatsApp… and, surprisingly, it works much better than I imagined. I’ve been testing it for several days, and although it started as a simple curiosity, I now use it daily for useful tasks, for entertainment, and even to organize plans with friends.
If you thought WhatsApp was just a messaging app, get ready, because the arrival of Meta AI has given it a major twist. This new feature not only answers questions, but also creates images, finds videos, recommends places, and even writes poems or funny excuses to get you out of a tight spot. Here, I’ll tell you everything I’ve tried, what works really well, and how you can use it too.
This is how I use Meta AI in WhatsApp: fast, easy, and surprisingly useful.
When you activate Meta AI, you can talk to her as if she were just another contact. And if you’re in a group, just type @Meta AI to have her respond publicly. It’s been helpful for me both for practical purposes and for laughs. For example, the other day, while organizing a meal with friends, I asked her to recommend good restaurants with Wi-Fi and within a reasonable budget. She gave us three very decent options, with links and everything. I also asked her for the weekend weather in my city… and she was spot on.
But it doesn’t stop there: a friend asked him for a funny excuse not to go to the get-together, and Meta AI told him an absurd story about aliens that made us cry with laughter.
The most creative: images, GIFs, poems, trivia, and even reels
One of the most surprising aspects is his creative side. You can ask him to draw surreal things, invent memes, or write a birthday poem. I asked him to draw a penguin playing the guitar, and within seconds, he sent me an AI-generated image with a brilliant result. He then even animated it as a GIF.
I’ve also tried asking him for questions for group games, ideas for viral challenges, and personality tests. If you have a WhatsApp group with colleagues, I assure you this changes everything. Conversations fill up with fresh content in seconds, and no one has to search Google like they used to.
Plus, since Meta also owns Instagram, you can ask her for reels directly: “Show me videos about easy recipes” or “I want reels about trips to Japan.” And she’ll send them to you instantly, with links that open in the Instagram app. This is especially useful if you’re bored and want to discover new content without leaving WhatsApp.
Some limitations that should be taken into account
Not everything is perfect, of course. For now, Meta AI can’t send or delete messages, make calls, or set real reminders within WhatsApp. It’s also not a good idea to share personal or sensitive information, as its replies aren’t end-to-end encrypted like the rest of your chats. So it’s best to use it only for casual or entertaining purposes.
He also doesn’t understand emotions or more complex nuances very well. For example, I asked him to help me comfort a friend who had lost his job… and the response was a bit cold. This is where you can tell he’s still a machine.
