Year after year, Apple has been adding tons of features, services, and functionality to its iPhone, all with the sole purpose of giving its users the best features in iOS 18. However, there are so many functions within the operating system that it’s practically impossible to remember them all or use them at the right time.
But don’t worry, that’s what we’re here for. Today I’m going to recommend a super useful trick that will save you tons of time on your chores, and the best part is that you can activate it with just a couple of taps.
I don’t use this iPhone trick directly every day, but I do indirectly. I’ll explain how to add your address to Contacts and Apple Maps to access a host of system services, and what benefits it can bring you.
How to add your address to Contacts and Apple Maps
Apple offers a huge amount of resources for setting up the iPhone and other electronic devices. In this guide, I’ll explain how to add your home address to the system so you can use even more tricks on your iPhone.
- The first thing you’ll want to do is open the Contacts app on your iPhone.
- Next, access your personal contact card.
- Then press the Edit button.
- Scroll down to the Add Address section and enter the street, door, floor, postal code, and your city.
- Next, go to the Apple Maps app.
- In the bottom panel of Apple Maps, tap Home.
- Add your address.
Okay, so now you have your home address added to your iPhone’s system. But what possibilities does this iOS feature offer? What tricks can you use now?
Tricks using your home address
Let’s say, for example, you’re driving and want to get back home. All you’d have to do in this case is ask Siri to “Take me home,” and the system will take care of providing GPS navigation to your home.
On the other hand, the Shortcuts app also allows you to create shortcuts using your home address. This way, you can have the living room lights turn on automatically when you arrive or have your home automation accessories turn off when you leave.
Additionally, you can also have the system enable focus mode depending on whether you’re at home or not, check road traffic conditions, use your address in transportation and delivery apps, or even receive event suggestions based on your location.
