A few days before Christmas, Samsung has just received a very nice gift. Its high-end The Premiere 8K projector has just obtained the first “8K” certification on the market from the 8K Association (8KA). Let’s take stock.

What does this certification mean?

Let’s start by remembering that 8KA is a global consortium of technology companies that encourages the adoption of this technology. As Samsung explains, the certification evaluates various criteria to ensure an immersive visual experience. This is how it is “resolution (7680 x 4320), brightness, contrast and color palette”.

Let’s add to these elements: 8K upscaling to raise low-resolution content, and an immersive audio part that supports the most recent formats, details the South Korean firm. Across all of these categories, the Premiere 8K was convincing enough to become the first projector on the market to obtain this certification.

As one can imagine, company executives were quick to welcome this good news. This is the case of Taeyoung Son, executive vice president of the Visual Display division at Samsung Electronics:

Obtaining the market’s first 8KA certification is a key milestone, as it officially demonstrates the new potential of projection technologies. We are committed to developing an 8K ecosystem by continually integrating exceptional new technologies.

CES 2025 in sight

To finish convincing the public, Samsung also emphasizes the ease of use of this product which is equipped with 8K wireless connectivity. Clearly, you will be able to stream images continuously without complex configuration, promises the Tech giant.

After a first presentation at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, then at IFA 2024 in Berlin last September, Samsung should represent The Premiere 8K at CES 2025, according to our colleagues at Frandroid. As for the price of this product, it is not yet known, but the prices are expected to be very high and it will probably not be affordable for all budgets.
