At the end of September, Tim Cook announced that Apple would make a donation to the victims of Hurricane Helene which had affected Florida and neighboring states. Last night, Apple’s CEO announced that the company will make a new donation to those affected by Hurricane Milton. A gesture of solidarity that is common at Apple.
Another nice gesture from Apple
Apple is once again mobilizing to help victims of a natural disaster. Tim Cook announced on the social network X that Apple would provide financial support to those affected by Hurricane Milton, which recently devastated several cities in Florida. This donation is intended to support relief efforts in the most affected areas.
In his message, Tim Cook expressed Apple’s solidarity with the people of Florida, saying that the company stood with those who saw their lives turned upside down by this hurricane. The precise amount of the donation was not revealed; Apple never discloses the amount of its contributions during natural disasters.
Hurricane Milton, which struck Florida on October 9 and 10, 2024, caused considerable damage. Winds of up to 100 mph and torrential rain caused major flooding in several counties, including Tampa and St. Petersburg, where record water levels were reported. Many infrastructures were seriously damaged: buildings were destroyed, roads were completely flooded and more than three million homes were deprived of electricity. After crossing Florida, Milton moved toward the Atlantic Ocean, becoming a post-tropical cyclone, with still powerful winds of 75 mph (120 km/h).
Apple has a long tradition of involvement in humanitarian efforts. Earlier this year, the company made a donation after the devastating floods in Brazil, and less than two weeks ago, Apple also pledged to support victims of Hurricane Helene.
This new initiative once again reinforces Apple’s commitment to helping communities in difficult times, showing that solidarity is at the heart of the company’s values.
Our hearts go out to all of those impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Milton. To everyone still in harmony’s way, please stay safe. Apple will be making a donation to help with relief efforts on the ground.
