How does it work?

According to Phonandroidcriminals therefore decided to surf on this news to take action. The target receives a fake e-mail from Health Insurance inviting them to renew their health card as quickly as possible. As always, they seek to establish a sense of urgency and fear.

As is often the case with phishing attacks, these Internet users are directed to a fake site which invites them to update their personal data. The latter is, however, very close to the original according to our colleague.

Criminals can potentially get their hands on very sensitive information, such as social security numbers and banking details. So many elements that can later be used for financial scams or identity theft.

How to avoid the worst?

We will have understood, vigilance is more important than ever. In particular, we advise you to always check the identity and address of the sender. Health Insurance will never contact you via this method regarding the Vitale Card. As soon as you have any doubts, you can connect directly to the portal without clicking the links integrated into the suspicious message.

The presence of spelling mistakes or a very alarmist tone are also elements which should encourage you to be careful. Finally, consider enabling two-factor authentication when possible. This option will only take you a few seconds and it considerably complicates the task of cybercriminals.

Very common scams

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the Carte Vitale has been used for malicious purposes. We spoke to you last June about this fraud during which Internet users received this email: “Health Insurance: final reminder for the renewal of your Vitale card. Please update before 05/06/2024 to maintain your rights ».

The objective was to push them into error by calling a premium rate number which makes money for these malicious actors. In other variants, the targets were switched to a fake Health Insurance site. The idea is to recover their personal and banking data to resell them or to steal your money.
