According to the New York Timesthe Cupertino company has made significant progress on delayed Apple Intelligence and Siri features, which are expected to launch this fall. Last March, Apple announced the delay in these features, which could be delayed until 2026. Sources at one of the world’s leading news outlets indicate confidence in the pending releases.

Apple struggles to get its pending Apple Intelligence and Siri features ready.

The people who spoke with the source indicate that Apple hasn’t canceled any plans or postponed any updates to next year. They plan to revamp Siri in the fall, allowing things like editing and sending a photo to a contact by asking the virtual assistant. Other related features include personal context, screen recognition, and integration with all apps.

The idea is for Siri to be capable and aware of all the information we see on our device, so that when we make any request from an app, in the iOS interface, or when viewing something on the screen, Siri has the answer in a timely manner.

Siri

Apple’s problem in this case was getting too far ahead of the kind of advancements shown at WWDC 2024. Many of us thought they would be ready in a timely manner, at least as we were seeing with each iOS 18 release. Apple has had such serious errors that they have led to withdrawal of TV ads regarding the features, and it is also facing lawsuits for the same situation.

These are the features we’re looking forward to and could be coming this fall.

Without a doubt, we have to take this information with a grain of salt because any internal or external situation affecting Apple could change everything, whether today or at any time during development. Until then, it’s a good time to recap what we’re missing in terms of Siri’s evolution. Some critics agree that Siri should have been the closest version of these features to its predecessor. Apple surely didn’t find the right formula until a few years ago, which is a good thing, since those in Cupertino are always evolving for the better.

In terms of personal context, Siri will be able to search for any information within our personal content to display it if we ask her to show us files, emails, phone numbers, messages, etc. Best of all, if we remember a message with the necessary content but don’t know which contact it belongs to, Siri will be able to help us in a matter of seconds. Finding information with our voice will be much simpler and more surprising.

Siri gets a makeover with a new logo

Siri will take on a kind of awareness on the screen, so that whatever we’re viewing on the iPhone, any data or information we want to add or do, we can tell Siri what to do. For example, if we’re reading a person’s contact information, we can ask them to add that information as a contact, or when viewing content, have Siri send it to a contact or share it on your social networks.

Finally, Siri is expected to be useful in intervening in our apps in ways that allow her to perform tasks ranging from the simplest to the most complicated. Things like editing a photo and sending it, sending the contents of a note, moving files, and so on—Siri will have this capability.

Apple Intelligence Summary

While it’s true that Apple Intelligence is being built with other apps and utilities such as Image Playground, Genmoji, writing tools, integration with ChatGPT, etc., Siri is a core part of Apple’s AI. Unfortunately, not all users will have access to this new generation of Siri. Remember that starting with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 series, it is compatible, in addition to iPads and Macs with Apple Silicon chips. We’ll see if Apple is able to convince users again, once the missing features are ready, where we can notice a purchasing behavior of new devices in order to integrate into this new stage of technology within Apple.
