If you are thinking of buying an Apple Watch, you may have seen that there are 3 models, however, leaving the Ultra aside, we will focus on the SE and the Seriessince the price difference between the two is important, and the features are not that different.

It is true that we can see many functions in one that will not be in the other, however, most are not tools for daily use, and in some cases, we will not even use them, so paying for them, in certain cases, is wasting money.

Apple Watch SE vs Series

The first thing we are going to see is the difference between the two, or rather, what features the Series models have compared to the SE models, which they do not have, to explain, later, if they are worth it or not, although at first glance there are many. We will take into account the latest models, both the second-generation SE and the 2025 Series 11.

  • Always-On Display: Allows you to see the time and notifications without having to touch the watch.
  • 2000 nits maximum brightness: Improves visibility outdoors, especially in sunlight.
  • S10 chip: It is faster and more efficient, improving fluidity and battery life in some situations (although we will take it with a grain of salt).
  • Blood oxygen sensor: monitor respiratory health and sports performance.
  • ECG (electrocardiogram): It allows detecting possible heart problems such as atrial fibrillation.
  • Gesture control (double tap): It allows you to interact with the watch without touching the screen, just with a hand gesture.
  • Fast charging: reduces the time needed to reach 80% battery.
  • Temperature detection: used especially for monitoring the menstrual cycle and possible onset of diseases.
  • Second generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) sensor: More precise location of nearby Apple devices.
  • Stainless steel material availablein addition to the aluminum version, offering a more premium option in design and durability.

As we can see, there are quite a few differences between the two, however, how many times are you going to use the electrocardiogram, or blood oxygenation, body temperature, etc.? The truth is that I have a Series 8, and except for measuring my heart rate during a workout, to know my status and calories burned, I never use the rest of its sensors, or at least I don't pay attention to them.

Presentation of the Apple Watch Series 10

In the same way, I notice that the battery lasts the same, and the charging, despite being somewhat faster, I do not see it as necessary either, so it will depend on each case, and if you are a person who is not going to have the screen always active, charges the watch at night, or does not even do sports, the SE model may be idealsince we are talking about prices that are around half that of a Series, so things change, a lot, in this regard.

Now that you know the differences, it is up to you to choose one or the other, because it depends a lot on your needs, however, until they add more health meters such as blood pressure or blood sugar, the truth is that I think that the SE is more suitable for the majority, and that we only acquired the Series for consumerism, and not necessity. Leave us a comment with your opinion and which one you would really choose.
