A recent and unexpected leak contradicts the rumors we had about the iPad 11 specifications. Although this model was expected to include support for Apple Intelligence, the Cupertino company’s artificial intelligence suite may not be available.

iPad 11 without Apple Intelligence

Earlier this month, renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman stated that the iPad 11 would be equipped with the A17 Pro chip and 8 GB of RAM, minimum requirements necessary to integrate Apple Intelligence. However, a private account of X (formerly Twitter), known for its reliability on iOS-related issues, ensures that the device will instead include the A16 chippresent in models such as the iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 15 and 15 Plus. This processor, although powerful, is not compatible with the artificial intelligence suite that Apple has promoted in its most advanced devices.

The A16 chip, which also has 6GB RAMseems an unexpected choice for a new generation model, especially at a time when Apple Intelligence is positioned as one of the key features of the latest devices. If this information turns out to be true, the iPad 11 could be left without this innovative technology, unless Apple made the surprising decision to reduce the minimum requirements to adapt this technology, something that it does not seem like they are going to do.

The leak has generated opinions of all kinds in the technological world. On the one hand, Gurman has a solid track record when it comes to Apple rumors, but he’s also made mistakes in the past. On the other hand, the account on X that leaked this information has also proven to be reliable, although it is not free of false rumors in the past. That said, users are wondering who is right, or if both sources could be right in some way. One possibility, although more speculative than anything else, is that Apple launches various iPad 11 configurationswith different prices and specifications, to satisfy a wider range of consumers.

Despite these speculations, it seems that the iPad 11 will not undergo major design changes compared to its predecessor. Beyond the debate about the chip, Gurman also announced that Apple will launch a Updated Magic Keyboard along with the device, focusing the product towards another productivity tool.

The presentation of the iPad 11 could take place between March and April, coinciding with Apple’s usual launch schedule. The big unknown, however, remains whether the device will include Apple Intelligence or if this technology will be reserved for the most advanced models.

While rumors continue to circulate, one thing is clear: the iPad 11 is at the center of a debate that could redefine what users expect from Apple’s entry-level range. Will this model be a more modest update than expected or will it mark a leap towards artificial intelligence in affordable devices? The answer, as always, will depend on Apple’s final strategy.
