Xiaomi never ceases to surprise us, not only with new and interesting products like the recently launched Xiaomi Toaster, but also by moving up its update schedule. In the last few hours, the company has begun rolling out the April security patch without prior notice. This is quite striking, both because we found it at the beginning of the month and because it is first available for entry-level devices.
This type of move by Xiaomi demonstrates its commitment and improvement in updating and keeping its smartphones secure. Generally, receiving these security patches in the first half of the month is not common, and even less so for an entry-level device like the Redmi 12.
Remember that security patches are simply small updates that fix recently discovered vulnerabilities and security flaws. That’s why they’re even more important than HyperOS or Android updates, especially if we’re concerned about our privacy.
What does this update include, since Xiaomi mobiles are going to arrive

While this is a very important update, don’t expect any significant functional changes. This new security patch, which is released in April, focuses on bug fixes, especially several that have been classified as critical. Additionally, something that caught our attention is that Xiaomi has taken advantage of the release of this new patch to bring Android 15 to the Redmi 12.
After starting to arrive on the Redmi 12, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra are expected to start receiving this new security patch throughout this week and next, with the Xiaomi 14 series following suit shortly after. After that, probably by the end of the month, the rest of the smartphones that still have support will follow suit.
