In addition to being fully involved in the deployment of HyperOS 2.1, Xiaomi seems to be preparing the launch of HyperOS 3, a new update of which we already know the first details after one of its applications was published by mistake.
As XiaomiTime reports, Xiaomi has accidentally released one of the first updates adapted to HyperOS 3 for its applications, specifically the Interconnectivity update. Thanks to this, we now know what numbering this new version of HyperOS will follow and approximately when it will debut.
HyperOS 3 will debut in October, and these are the first details.
Just as HyperOS would have been MIUI 15, HyperOS 2 has followed the typical numbering that MIUI 16 would have had if its development had continued. This is also the case with one of the latest updates released by Xiaomi, publishing version V17 of the Interconnectivity app, which clearly shows that development of HyperOS 3 is underway.

As shown in the image above, Xiaomi has released the 17.0.0.1 update of its Interconnectivity application, which would correspond to HyperOS 3 since all HyperOS 2 applications do so under version 16.XXX. A clear indication that the next major Xiaomi update is already underway.
Following Xiaomi’s usual release schedule, HyperOS 3 is expected to debut in mid-October, further confirmed by this update to the Interconnectivity app. Additionally, HyperOS 3 is expected to bring with it widespread adoption of Android 16, splitting into the following:
- HyperOS 3 on Android 15: For older phones that are nearing the end of their useful life.
- HyperOS 3 on Android 16: for the latest models recently released and that have been on the market for less than 2 years.
In short, Xiaomi seems to have HyperOS 3 development underway, as evidenced by the accidental release of this update. Little by little, over the next few months, we’ll discover new details about all the new features this update is expected to bring.
