  • The optional keyboard and stylus enrich the experience offered by these tablets.

Xiaomi has pulled out all the stops during this edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Not only has it presented its Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra smartphones; it has also announced the launch of its Watch S4 smartwatch, its Smart Band 9 Pro, and even its latest electric scooters . However, that’s not all. The protagonists of this article are two cutting-edge tablets that, on paper, look really good. And not just because of their hardware.

In the specifications table that we published below this paragraph, you can see that the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro tablets offer us a screen that bets on an 11.2-inch LCD panel and 3.2K resolution capable of working at a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. As far as the screen is concerned, there is no difference between these two devices, although there is a difference in two important sections that are worth not overlooking.

Xiaomi’s AI aims to break down the limitations of other tablets

The Xiaomi Pad 7 features a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, a chip that on paper should offer us performance in line with what we can demand from a latest-generation tablet. Even so, the Pad 7 Pro model offers us an even more capable SoC: a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It will be interesting to see if in an everyday usage scenario the difference in performance between these two chips is really evident. In any case, these two tablets differ in two other relevant sections.

The simplest model, the Pad 7, opts for 8 GB of main memory, while the Pad 7 Pro offers us 12 GB.

The most basic model, the Pad 7, has 8GB of main memory, while the Pad 7 Pro offers a maximum of 12GB. The other relevant difference is the power used by the fast charging system of these two tablets. The Pad 7 reaches 45 watts, while the Pad 7 Pro increases this figure to 67 watts. However, both devices incorporate an 8,850 mAh battery, although their autonomy may presumably vary slightly due to the difference in consumption of the two Qualcomm SoCs they rely on.

As far as connectivity is concerned, both tablets have a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. Nothing to complain about so far. Be that as it may, we have not yet delved into two of the most interesting features of these Xiaomi proposals. One of them is their operating system. Both incorporate HyperOS, which is based on Android, but enriched with the added functionalities of HyperAI.

Xiaomi offers us two optional accessories to get more out of these tablets: a keyboard and a stylus

This artificial intelligence (AI) software expands the capabilities of some of the applications that Xiaomi offers us on these tablets. The voice recorder, for example, can now automatically transcribe and translate. In addition, AI Art is capable of generating faithful images; Creativity Assistant allows us to accurately remove objects from any image, among other features, and with AI Dynamic Wallpapers we can create moving images from a static image.
