React with an emoji on WhatsApp? It’s coming soon
It’s not too soon. While WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps, it lacked a crucial feature: being able to react with an emoji to messages. Indeed, most competing applications offer it, such as Signal, Messenger, Telegram or Slack. It is even possible in private messages on Instagram and Twitter.
WhatsApp has been working on this project for several months already and it seems that it is finally time to see the result. Well, not for everyone. Only a handful of Android beta testers take advantage of it at the moment. So don’t panic if you’re not one of the lucky ones. The rollout of this feature should expand slowly but surely and you will soon be able to take advantage of it.
According to WABetaInfo, users will be able to choose from six emojis to react to messages: the famous thumb, the heart, the emoji crying with laughter, the one who is surprised, the one who is sad and the two joined hands. This should spice up conversations, whether individual or group.
Being able to add emojis to messages would allow users to have a new means of expression. These reactions are an opportunity to give interest to a message, to quickly show that it has been seen, read and taken into account. They are also perfect when you don’t really know what to reply to a message, without wanting to “do nothing” either.
With this feature being rolled out, WhatsApp continues to be full of new features. Recently, the app got a more convenient audio message player or sticker maker on the desktop version. What will be next?
