Are you looking forward to the next beta of iOS 16? Well that’s to be expected because beta 3 developers and testers have now waited longer for the fourth version of iOS 16 than any other update since iOS 6. Even if Apple releases it tonight, the “record” is already established.
The long wait for beta 4
This minor landmark pointed out by a Redditer was hit when Apple failed to release the fourth iOS 16 beta yesterday. In 2012 and 2013, the betas of iOS 6 and iOS 7 remained in their third version for 21 days, which is the third developer beta of iOS 16 so far.
If the fourth beta of iOS 16 is not released later today, the third beta of iOS 16 will become the third longest beta of its kind. However, it is very likely that beta 4 will arrive during the week.
Most indications suggest that iOS 16 development hasn’t been as smooth as it has been in recent years, with beta releases often not sticking to the usual schedule. Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman speculated that betas might be lagging because internal builds are currently “a bit buggy.”
As expected, the iOS 16 beta launched in early June, followed by the public beta on July 11, more than two weeks later than the first iOS 15 public beta last year.
