We are just a few weeks away from the presentation of iOS 18 and many new features of the next iPhone operating system have been leaked
We are just over a month away from the launch of iOS 18 at WWDC24 and we have just leak a lot of news about the next iPhone operating system. We are facing one of the most important updates in recent years according to rumors and Mark Gurman has revealed many new features in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter.
Gurman assures that, in addition to the new artificial intelligence functions, iOS 18 will update most of the applications included in the iPhone, with special improvements in Photos, Mail, Notes and Fitness. Don’t forget that the Calculator app will be updated with new features and will be available on the iPad for the first time.
In addition to this, Gurman claims we will see another major design change in iOS 18. The iPhone’s home screen will have some new features, such as the ability to freely place icons for the first time, instead of having them placed from top to bottom.
iOS 18 Rumors Summary
We are quite close to the presentation of iOS 18 and the launch of the first betas, so the operating system already has to be quite polished. Although it is true that many of the new features that Apple presents would arrive as the updates pass.
At this point, there are many interesting rumors about iOS 18, these are the most important ones:
- Siri smarter: AI could really come in handy for Siri and the assistant is expected to evolve in iOS 18 into a much smarter and more useful version.
- System-wide AI features: Apple Music with personalized lists, Messages with automatic responses, improvements in Spotlight with generative AI… we will see new artificial intelligence developments throughout the system.
- Important news in the Notes app– The Notes app will be significantly improved with new voice recording and calculation features.
- More customizable home screen: This could be a small revolution that allows us greater freedom when it comes to placing apps wherever we want, something restricted until now on the iPhone.
- RCS in Messages: Apple has confirmed the arrival of RCS to the iPhone at the end of the year, which will make messages more compatible with Android.
- UI changes: Apple could change the UI of iOS 18 to be more like visionOS, with transparencies throughout the interface.
- Apple Maps Custom Routes: an option that will learn from our preferences when showing us a route, not always taking us along the fastest one.
- List of devices compatible with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18: The list of devices compatible with the new operating systems has surprised us quite a bit and it would certainly be very interesting if the rumors came true.
We expect a lot from iOS 18 and expectations are sky high. The next iPhone operating system could change a lot of things, something we haven’t seen for quite some time. Now we only have to wait a few weeks for its official presentation at the beginning of June.
