Contrary to Mark Gurman’s previous predictions, MacBook Air and Macbook Pro equipped with Apple’s M3 chip could have a release date later than expected. We take stock.
THE MacBook Pro M3 and MacBook Pro M3 could arrive as early as next year, but with a few months delay. This is what the often very well informed Mark Gurman of Bloomberg asserts.
See you in 2024 for the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air M3
While he had previously announced that the MacBook Air with a new chip could see the light of day as early as October 2023, Gurman is now banking on a release between spring and next summer “at the earliest”.
In its newsletter, “Power On”, the Apple news specialist reports that the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air M3s are now in the technical verification test (EVT) phase. On the other hand, the M3 MacBook Pros are further along in the process and “close to mass production”.
According to Gurman, “the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros equipped with the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips have reached the DVT stage – short for design validation testing.” An advancement which should allow them to exit “between the beginning and spring of 2024”. As a reminder, Apple launched its 2023 MacBook Pros with the M2 Max and M2 Pro chips last January.
Gurman also contradicts rumors that new iPads could be presented this week. He said updates to the tablets for the general public are in development, but he doesn’t believe any announcement is imminent. Time will tell who was right, but Apple has many new products in the pipeline. It’s all about timing now…
