This former Apple employee has admitted that he stole more than 17 million euros during his 10 years at the company.
A former Apple employee has pleaded guilty in the federal court this week of “conspiracy to defraud the United States” after Steal more than 17 million dollars from Apple. He could spend up to 25 years in prison for this crime against the Californian company.
Dhirendra Prasad worked at Apple for 10 years and most of the time he was in a procurement-related position in Apple’s global services supply chain. To do so, he had two accomplices from two Apple supplier companies that also benefited from the plot.
Dhirendra Prasad pleaded guilty in federal court today to conspiracy to commit fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States in connection with multiple schemes defrauding his then-employer Apple, Inc., United States Attorney General Stephanie M. Hinds.
This is how he stole all this amount of money from Apple
Prasad’s responsibilities involved purchasing parts and services for Apple from different vendors. Prasad admitted that he started defrauding Apple in 2011 using different tactics: bribes, inflating bills, stealing parts, and making Apple pay for items and services never received.
Prasad admitted that this strategy continued until 2018 and that the total calculation of the invoice it cost Apple more than 17 million dollars. He as well as having two accomplices, Robert Gary Hansen and Don M. Baker.
In 2013, for example, Prasad shipped motherboards from Apple inventory to CTrends company, by Don M. Baker. Baker collected motherboard components and Prasad placed purchase orders for new components that Apple already had. The two shared the profits.
Another example that has come to light occurred in 2016. This time, Prasad shipped Apple components to Robert Gary Hansen’s business, Quality Electronics Distributors, Inc. Hansen picked up the components, put them in new packaging, shipped them back to Apple’s warehouse, and charged for them to the company through Prasad.
Dhirendra Prasad could pass up to 25 years in prison after being sentenced, something that will be known after the hearing that will take place in March 2023. He must also return 5 million dollars in assets that he obtained with his criminal plot against Apple.
