When it comes to getting one tabletthere are two options main. On the one hand, we can go for an Android model, with much more variety, and, above all, price. However, we also have Apple, with its iPad, an ideal option if you already have something from the brand.

Today, we are going to see why a iPaddespite being several years old, could be a better option than an Android of the same or better range, and even more recent. It may not apply to all people or cases, but the truth is that it is a reality that must be known.

iPad or Android: which tablet to choose?

Many think that newer tablets are always better, but the truth is that an iPad, even if it is a few years old, continues to give a fight and, in many cases, surpasses tablets that have just been released on the market.

First, the operating system. iPadOS receives updates for years, which means your old iPad still has new features and up-to-date security. Many “new” tablets with Android or Windows don't even last half as long in updates, so in the end you end up with something quick, but that soon becomes obsolete, especially if they depend on brand patches, since possibly a Xiaomi or Samsung will offer you some time, but other Chinese ones, and very cheap ones, may not even be updated anymore.

Then there is the performance. Old iPads are built to last. Yes, the new ones are more powerful, but the difference is not always noticeable in day-to-day tasks: browsing, watching series, taking notes or playing light games works just as well. And if you give it a little care, the battery continues to last a long time, so we would have something economical, and that would work for most of us.

Construction also counts. iPads are not fragile tablets that bend or break with any impact. Many models from five or six years ago still look and feel premium, while some cheap new tablets seem made to last only a few months. Dropping and breaking your screen can be key to ending up paying more for a cheap tablet than for an iPad that can withstand that blow, despite being more expensive, in the end you won't have to change it or buy another one.

Lastly, the ecosystem. If you already have other Apple products, an old iPad integrates perfectly with them: you share files, notes, photos… and everything works without problems. That is something that many new tablets cannot match, no matter how powerful they are, since the convenience of the apple ecosystem is unmatched, and forces us to have everything from the brand if we want this.

Furthermore, if we want to sell it one day, its economic value is maintained over time much longer than an Android tablet, so if it does not convince us, or we want to renew it, it will be much better priced, since we have something that does not devalue so easily.
