Named “iPhone Air” or “iPhone Slim” by the various rumors that mention it, this smartphone would have a thickness of 6 millimeters. A difference of 0.9 millimeters which may seem insignificant, but which risks making all the difference during use.

According to Jeff Pu, an analyst close to the Apple brand, Apple has made great efforts to reduce the thickness of its “iPhone Slim”. The Cupertino company would nevertheless have encountered a “technical limit” around 6 millimeters. It is in fact impossible to produce stable and solid batteries that are even thinner.

The arrival of the “Slim” iPhone, still planned for next September, should be the novelty of the year for Apple. The Apple brand has accustomed us in recent years to producing ever thicker smartphones.

With a “Slim” model, the Cupertino company would achieve a nice return to its roots. As a reminder, the latest iPhone 16 measures 7.8 millimeters thick. The gain would therefore be 25%.

Mini, Plus, Slim: Apple is looking for itself

The upcoming arrival of a “Slim” iPhone could also mark the arrival of a new variant for the iPhone. He who has known “Max” formats, become “Plus” but also “mini” would therefore be entitled to a thinner version, like the iPads and MacBooks.

The use of the terminology “Slim” although mentioned in numerous rumors does not seem to follow the historical notation of Apple which generally prefers the term “Air” to speak of a product thinner and lighter than the others.
