Google bookmarks aren’t necessarily for you. Maybe you don’t really like them or feel comfortable using them. It’s true that they’re a very efficient organizational tool within our browser, but they’re not the only way to navigate within it. There are some apps that can act as Chrome bookmarks.
We have smart tagging systems, improved search capabilities, and more. It’s not all about organization. The alternatives we’re going to present go far beyond simple organization, but we’ll go step by step because the benefits of each one fall within a very broad spectrum.
Diigo
This tool is focused on our social spectrum. With it, we can not only save and organize the links we want but also have functions for manual annotation and online collaboration.
With Diigo, you can collect and tag content, such as articles, images, or videos, to access them later, even from other devices. All thanks to its cloud synchronization. Apart from that, it also helps us structure our links efficiently.
Raindrop.io
This is one of the most comprehensive options on the list. Raindrop stands out for its organizational capabilities, as we can even export extensions from other browsers thanks to it.
With it, you can add your own notes, bookmark your favorite websites, or even set your personal reminders. And it all works through tags and collections. It also has an internal search system so you can organize your information efficiently. It also detects broken or outdated links, duplicate links, and more.
However, keep in mind that it also has paid features, so to fully unlock them, you’ll need to subscribe.
This is probably the user’s favorite. No matter where you look, it’s packed with features that will never cease to amaze us. So, if we look at its bookmark manager function, we can say it’s the best.
On its own, it’s already capable of offering extensions for our own browsers through a fairly extensive catalog. It will allow you to tag any item you want, but if you want to do it more generally, you can also create collections. When we talk about collections, we refer to different folders that group similar bookmarks together, and you can save bookmarks, for example, by date.
Aside from all this, it also has its own content that the app itself curates and then offers to us. This helps us discover news of interest and other content that catches our attention. But it can’t all be rosy, because it also has paid features that we’ll need to unlock.
Instapaper
Instapaper doesn’t mess around. It offers good tagging and a folder system for our bookmarks. Its interface is very simple and also has an import function from external applications.

These are just four of the many bookmarking apps out there. Each has its pros and cons, but we’re confident they take even the simplest bookmarks in Google Chrome to a whole new level.
