“The fastest production car ever made”. In November 2017, Elon Musk was full of praise for the new Tesla Roadster. In the process, early fans took action and paid $50,000 to reserve this vehicle. Seven years later, they still haven’t seen the color of it, but there is something new, and the billionaire returned to the subject during his company’s last quarterly conference.
A little patience for the Tesla Roadster
The least we can say is that the customers concerned should not be in too much of a hurry. Elon Musk still wants to thank these customers “long-suffering”, waiting. He indicated that this will be “the icing on the cake”but that “other projects have priority before its launch”.
Reassuringly, the entrepreneur specifies that Tesla “finally making progress” and that he is “close to finalizing his design”. He adds: “It’s super fun, and we’re working on it, but it has to come behind them (priority projects Editor’s note)”.
Questioned by our colleagues from Business Insidersome analysts are not surprised by his comments. One of them believes that the manufacturer has a lot to do with accelerating production of the Model Y and the Cybertruck.
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives is the most optimistic and thinks you’ll see the new Tesla Roadster on the roads within 12 months. Other experts, more naughty, recall that Elon Musk often mentions major projects in all his companies, which often take a long time to come to fruition or are abandoned.
Elon Musk’s promises
As a reminder, the manager has in any case sold us a dream with this vehicle and he promises that it will be capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second. For example, this is better than the Bugatti Chiron, often cited as the fastest car in the world, which takes 2.4 seconds to reach this speed. Note that the latter will also have a removable glass roof.
The businessman also confirmed that this model will be the result of a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX, these two companies, but it is currently unknown how this partnership will materialize in the Tesla Roadster. As for its price, it has reached the heights and we are already talking about the sum of 200,000 dollars.
