Although there are many devices like the iPhone that come out year after year, and therefore we know when we will get new ones, there are others like the AirPods, which are a mystery, and which Apple can release in very close periods, or, as on other occasions, every many years.

That’s why news like this makes us very happy, since references to the AirPods Pro 3 have been found within the iOS 26 code, which means that Apple has already tested some function or synchronization of these with the iPhone, making it clear that they are close to their launch.

We’ll have AirPods Pro 3 in 2025

Everything points to that, so it’s likely that this fall, either at the iPhone launch (something unusual) or later, in October or November, they’ll go on sale, with interesting new features that will make any iPhone user want to get one.

These AirPods Pro 3 will come with a new design for both the earbuds and the case, which could be smaller, as was the case with the AirPods 4. They are also expected to include a faster audio chip, which would improve noise cancellation and sound quality. They could also incorporate new features such as heart rate measurement and temperature detection.

Currently, they are already a marvel, and we can’t ask for improvements in the battery, synchronization, or even design and sound, so anything they improve will be welcome, since, at least for my part, they are almost perfect, except for the price, which, logically, is quite high for headphones.

There would be no trace of the AirPods 5, and, unlike the Pro, they are not expected for this year, and maybe not even for the next, because the 4 have been quite successful, and are, in relation to the price, the best that Apple has ever had, so they will stretch them a little longer, since it is difficult to improve them without increasing this cost.

Last month, Apple changed the reference to the second-generation AirPods Pro to “AirPods Pro 2 or later.” They’ve now changed it again, but that could be another clue that they’ve actually already been testing the product online, including adding it to the platform. We don’t think it’ll be such a quick surprise, and as we said, it’s expected in the fall, but who knows? We can’t trust Apple, and both these and the AirTag 2 could appear any day now. So we’ll be on the lookout for more rumors, leaks, and news from the company.

And you, do you have AirPods Pro 2? Are you waiting for the release of the 3rd generation to get a pair? The truth is that for users who already own a pair, it’s hard to see how many new features there are that would make it worthwhile to upgrade. But if you don’t use them yet, or need to upgrade, the release of the third-generation model could be the perfect opportunity to buy them and enjoy the best audio quality Apple has to offer.
