This is something that has been increasing over time, due to the very low price of these items on websites like AliExpress, and which people then resell at a much higher price, but still economically, compared to the originals, to people who believe they are genuine.

And the problem is more serious than it seems, since, as we explained a year ago, the scam doesn’t only come from second-hand websites or little-known pages, but even Amazon is selling fake AirPods because there are people who buy them, and when they return them, they send one of these replicas, sneaking into the company’s warehouses and reselling them as new, without actually being the originals.
That is, if we have to answer the question of how to know if they are real, the best thing would be to go to an Apple Store and have them verify it, since the box or serial number can be copied down to the last millimeter, and we wouldn’t even notice.
When testing them, if we have original ones, we could detect some difference in sound, however, if it is the first time we put one on, things change, and if it is a good replica, we could get used to it quickly and believe that they are really good, because although their battery does not last 6 hours, they have good autonomy, and if they are 4 or 5 we will also believe that they are more than decent, and that they really are like that.
In short, there aren’t many ways, other than taking it in for a checkup, to detect, at least at first glance, whether the AirPods we bought are original or not, and even less so over time, as the flaws become more apparent.
That’s why many people, before spending 200 euros on a pair, without knowing if they’re real, look for alternatives from other brands that don’t have imitations, paying less and still getting something very good.
This, added to the fact that people who bought some by mistake, believing them to be original, and didn’t notice the difference, have thought that it’s silly to pay so much for other originals, when using the replica, which they can find for 20 euros, they were happy, and without the risk of losing money if they break or are stolen.
