Aloha Browser, known as Brave for its focus on privacy, introduced a pioneering cookie consent management feature designed to put an end to incessant consent banners, while preserving users’ privacy options. Since the implementation of the GDPR in Europe, all sites must ask visitors to accept or configure settings relating to the recording of certain data.
Aloha Browser makes surfing simple
With update 6.3.2, now available on the App Store, Aloha allows users to configure their cookie settings once in the browser itself, rather than being prompted to do so with each new site they visit.
This initiative addresses the inconvenience felt by 70% of Internet users who bypass or ignore cookie notices without consulting them. But the point of Aloha is that it doesn’t just remove these banners; it communicates user preferences to web pages via a standardized API.
Andrew Frost Moroz, founder of Aloha Browser, commented:
The current method of managing cookie consent is flawed and counterproductive. It’s essential that we allow users to set their privacy choices once and for all web interactions without the constant interruption of cookie banners.
This feature allows users to:
- Accept or reject all cookies universally,
- Customize settings for different types of cookies,
- Specify preferences for particular websites.
These preferences are securely saved in Aloha Browser and used automatically as users browse. To access this new feature, users must access Aloha settings and find the section dedicated to GDPR.
Aloha presented this innovative cookie management during the conference TPAC 2024 of the W3C, garnering many favorable votes. Aloha Browser is available for download from the App Store and comes with features like a built-in VPN, ad blocker, privacy analytics, background audio playback, and sophisticated file management capabilities. Enough to make it an ideal companion for YouTube enthusiasts, for example. But let’s remember that sites like ours survive largely thanks to advertising. It’s that, or move to a completely paid model. And for that, you have the iSoft app with an in-app purchase to enjoy everything without disruption.
