Apple’s CarKey should soon be compatible with three new car brands. Audi, Volvo and Polestar would allow Apple’s digital car key solution to become a little more popular after more than two years of activity.

CarKey continues to make its mark

According to MacRumors and its recent dig into the bowels of Apple’s Maps (Wallet) app, new automotive brands are gearing up to support CarKey, Apple’s digital car key solution.

A priori, Audi, Volvo and Polestar would be the three lucky ones. We are talking about certain models here, and not all cars from each brand. As a reminder, Apple’s CarKey digital key allows you to lock/unlock your vehicle using your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Apple CarKey coming soon to Audi, Volvo and Polestar

A modern system made possible thanks to NFC and the application Cards which securely stores bank cards, plane and event tickets and therefore digital car keys. CarKey has been available since 2022. Currently, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, Kia, Lotus and Genesis are CarKey compatible. Lynk & Co should also be added to the list soon.

The Apple Car is forgotten, CarPlay 2.0 is struggling to be accepted but CarKey continues on its way. With CarPlay, they are trying as best they can to carve out a small place for themselves in the automotive world, which is so difficult to integrate. A world in which Apple wants to leave its mark in the future.
