Now it seems that Tim Cook's own company and the airlines, starting with American Airlinesthey would be associated so that users could share this with airport workers, thus improving the security that they arrive with us.

AIRTAG and airlines

At first, even some airline, they would have prohibited the use of these trackers in the suitcases, their carrying being illegal, however, it lasted little, and it was shown that they are not a risk for the flight and that they can go perfectly in the luggage, both invoiced and hand.

Now, the thing changes, and they are not only very accepted, but new ways of using it begin. It seems that American Airlines is very happy with the proposal. It would be a New function that allows passengers to share the location of their luggage equipped with AIRTAGS Apple in case of delay or loss. This functionality, introduced in iOS 18.2, gives users the possibility of generating a shared link from the app “search” so that airline staff can locate the luggage more efficiently.

To use this service, customers must scan a QR code in the American Airlines Equipment Office and provide the necessary information.

Until now, if we lost our suitcases and had an AIRTAG, we could warn the airline Where it was, and if it had been left at the exit airport, sent on another plane, etc., however, now it will not be necessary, and they themselves, after a loss report, can use this information to improve the times of Answer and facilitate that I return with us more quickly.

What other airlines will be associated

Apple has already said that I was working with other companies, and that many of them accepted the proposal, so it would not be uncommon for us to know more in the next few days or weeks. Among them (for now), are the following:

Delta, United, Air Canada, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, Aer Lingus, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, IberiaSwiss, Turkish Airlines and Vueling.

Maleta airport

Thanks to this, it is likely that, in Spain, it will also be implemented soon, with both national and international flights, although we already know that these things are slow outside the United States, so they will first try it there. Anyway, being legal, we can continue using our AIRTAG, and if at some point we see the option, then take advantage of it, but at least we will know where our luggage is at all times, and hopefully we must not claim it.

And you, do you see this functionality well? Would you use it? The truth is that I think so, although I would forget to do before, for laziness, and once lost I would remember.
