beddit-for-model-3-5 ipa iphoneIn May 2017, Apple acquired Beddit, a company specializing in sleep and different cycles. In particular, it sold a sleep sensor and its official application on the App Store.

Since the acquisition, Apple hasn’t really maintained the service, instead focusing on the same service on Apple Watch. A few days ago, Apple completely removed the iPhone applications associated with Beddit models 3.0 and 3.5 from the App Store.

Beddit is dead, long live Apple

Apple acquired Beddit in 2017, and since then, the company has gradually reduced hardware and software support for this accessory. As early as 2018, Apple removed cloud synchronization from the original Beddit application, then launched a version of the accessory with fewer features in 2019. Eventually, the sale of the device was completely stopped in 2022.

The Beddit system featured a thin strip of flexible sensors to place on the mattress to track sleep data. It is likely that Apple acquired Beddit to improve its own sleep tracking, particularly forApple Watchwho introduced this feature with watchOS 7 in September 2020.

Beddit apps continue to work for users who still have the accessory, but this decision marks another step in Apple’s end of support for this product.

Let us also remember that in addition to sleep, Beddit was known to measure heart rate, breathing and snoring. We can imagine that the latter mentioned will soon appear on Apple Watch. Another health advantage for Apple.
