There's less left to learn about Apple's Home Hub, a kind of HomePod, but with a screenand that will allow us to perform and control multiple household tasks, especially if we have HomeKit compatible devices such as light bulbs or smart plugs.

They are still rumors, and we do not know exactly how this device will come to the market, or when, despite everything indicating that it is not far off, but there is talk about a very curious feature of it, and that is that it could know where you are and follow you with its “look.”

A Home Hub that follows you

It seems that Apple is toying with a rather curious idea for its home devices, according to Wayne Ma of The Information: a Home Hub that is not always facing the same place, but can turn itself. We are not talking about a robot that walks around the living room, but rather a base that rotates gently to orient itself towards you.

Imagine that you enter the living room and the device turns a little to “look at you.” Or you're sitting on the couch, you get up, move around, and the screen adjusts itself without you having to touch anything. It's that kind of thing that doesn't seem important… until you have it and you realize how comfortable it is.

This would make a lot of sense for video calls. Instead of worrying about getting right in front of the camera, the device itself adapts. Also for something as simple as talking to Siri: if the device is facing you, it hears you better and you don't have to raise your voice or repeat things. In the same way that you can see them reflected on the screen without having to position yourself at an angle that allows you to see them well.

It's not official at all. Apple has not taught anything or said “this is going to come out.” It is rather an idea that has been seen out there and that fits quite well with the idea that the company had of a much more natural and human assistant.

And, in the end, that is the feeling it gives. It's not about adding engines just for the sake of it, or doing something flashy to show off. The trick would be that the device adapts to you without you having to think about it. Let him be there, do his job and that's it.

If something like this ever comes along, it probably won't be something that makes you say “that's crazy,” but rather “well, this makes sense.” And that, coming from Apple, is usually just the goal. For now we will have to waitand although it seems that we will soon have one, nothing is clear, since it was also believed that it would be released at the end of 2025, and here we are still waiting, so we are not going to venture, and the day it comes out, we will simply be happy and try it.

And you, do you think this function would be interesting, or does it just add an extra cost to the product, with little use? Leave us a comment with your opinion, and if you would buy this type of Hub if it really were more intelligent and natural than the current Siri.
