Apple TV+ announced season 2 of its drama series “Sugar”, with the return of Colin Farrell in the role of Detective John Sugar. Hailed as “one of the best neo-noir thrillers of recent years” with “one of the most significant twists and turns in recent television history”, the first season is also available for streaming worldwide entire on Apple TV+.

For those who have not seen the first season, the series “Sugar” offers a modern and original approach to the detective genre. Farrell plays John Sugar, an American private detective confronted with a delicate investigation: the enigmatic disappearance of Olivia Siegel, heiress to a legendary Hollywood figure.

In season two, Detective John Sugar returns to Los Angeles to investigate a new missing person case, while still searching for answers regarding his sister’s disappearance.

Executive producers Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg obviously expressed their enthusiasm after this announcement:

We thank Apple for their continued support, our showrunner Sam Catlin, the talented Colin Farrell, and of course, our viewers. We look forward to getting John Sugar back on a new case.

For his part, Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, added:

The second season will be led by showrunner Sam Catlin, who will also serve as executive producer under his banner Short Drive Entertainment. Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg will continue to produce for Genre Movies as part of Kinberg’s overall deal with Apple TV+. Farrell, Scott Greenberg and Chip Vucelich will also return as executive producers. The series was created by Mark Protosevich.

The first season cast also included Kirby, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler and Alex Hernandez.
