Yesterday, Apple launched updates to its iOS, watchOS, macOS, etc. operating systems, with bug fixes and important improvements in all of them, after the official launch of its first versions. Among them, the Apple Watch stands out, which we will see below.
This version had brought a lot of controversy, since watchOS 11 It offered us certain tools and features that we had not seen before, and therefore many of us wanted to update to try them, however, the battery drainamong other bugs, made it impossible for the decision to be made correctly. At least until now.
WatchOS 11.0.1 now available
During the betas of this new OS we were criticizing the durability of the battery, however, we know that they are test versions, and we imagined that they would be betting more on the functions than on optimizing the system, so we did not give it as much importance. However, when the final version was released, we saw how, despite an improvement, the drain occurred all the time, even on days when we did not use the watch except to look at a notification.
It seems that Apple has been working on it, and has released this first update with some important improvements, among which we see the point about the autonomy of its products. These are all the problems they would have solved:
- Apple Watch may restart unexpectedly for some users
- Music app may close unexpectedly when loading media
- The battery may drain faster than expected
- The touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive for some Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users.
- Messages may pop out unexpectedly when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch
Therefore, if Apple reflects it in its notes, it means that the change will be substantial, and should really be solved. This comes hand in hand with other errors such as unexpected shutdowns or restarts, as well as freezes on new devices.
For now we have not had the opportunity to test it thoroughly, or at least for more than 24 hours, to know if it really lasts more or less than before, although we trust Apple, and with all this, we could recommend updating, since in principle it seems to be a stability version, and not new features, so it should at least be better than the previous one.
And you, are you one of those who tests all kinds of betas and versions before anyone else? The truth is that I do, although on Apple Watch it is not recommended, since once you do it, you cannot go back, and if it has a battery drain, as happened to us with the betas, you will find yourself with a watch which doesn’t even last 12 hours, so you’ll end up entering the house with the power off. Leave us a comment if you have already been able to thoroughly test watchOS 11.0.1 and if that battery life really shows, or is it just a way of selling that they have worked on it, but it is still similar.
