Tesla is finally working on an application for Apple Watch. In any case, this is what is suggested by an article from 9to5Mac which indicates that after a decompilation, the manufacturer’s new app for the iPhone would have revealed the existence of pieces of code which refer to this future application for connected watches. Unfortunately, these code snippets don’t provide much detail. And for the moment, caution remains in order, since no official announcement has yet been made.

However, it is also worth noting that, previously, Elon Musk had suggested that an application for smartwatches could be developed. This comment from the CEO of Tesla was a response to a user who said that due to a phone problem, he was unable to unlock his Tesla. He then asked Elon Musk if Tesla could offer the unlocking functionality on connected watches.

At the moment, we do not know what features Tesla could offer on its future application for connected watches. But in any case, it would be a nice addition, especially if the Apple Watch app includes the unlock feature. Otherwise, as 9tto5Mac points out, Apple already offers its “car key” interface for the iPhone and Apple Watch, which car manufacturers can use to store virtual car keys in the Wallet application.
