While it’s not even available yet, the new messaging app Daze is already creating a huge buzz on social networks. According to our colleagues at TechCrunch, one of his videos on TikTok has had more than 8 million views. And in total, the videos showing how this application works have accumulated more than 48 million views on TikTok and Instagram. Furthermore, before its official launch, Daze already has more than 156,000 future users on its waiting list.
If this new app is attracting so much attention, it is because it intends to transform the way we communicate by messaging, thanks to a new interface. Daze wants us to say goodbye to messaging bubbles, like those found on WhatsApp, Messenger, iMessage, etc. Instead, Daze offers a sort of canvas on which users can personalize the appearance of their messages, be more expressive and let their creativity flow. The app also relies on artificial intelligence to power some of its creation features.
A future success?
Although Daze is already generating a lot of buzz, caution remains in order. In the past, many apps that had significant visibility at launch did not have long-term success in the face of competition from large platforms. But in any case, Daze seems to have everything it takes to succeed. The popularity of the videos he posts on social media suggests that the idea appeals to Generation Z. And the results of beta testing are encouraging. According to TechCrunch, as part of the limited beta, 50% of users continue to use the application after the first 60 days. Furthermore, the majority of testers would be aged 13 to 22 (a segment of the population which is particularly coveted by online platforms).
The creator of Daze is reportedly planning to launch this app on November 5. And on the financing side, Daze has already raised $5.7 million for the development of its application.
