As we eagerly await the arrival of the iPhone SE 4, sometimes referred to as the iPhone 16e, with a launch window around March 2025, here’s some bad news about its price. According to the latest information from an expert, the bill would be higher in 2025.
Meanwhile, Apple is also busy preparing the various iPhone 17s expected later in 2025.
A rising price
According to the famous informant eyes1122 on Naver, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to sell for just under $500 in the US, or $499. This represents a substantial increase over the starting price of the current model, but is not surprising. As recently reported, the current iPhone SE (2022), the third generation model, starts at $429/€529, thanks to an adjusted price last spring, more than two years after its release. Previously, it was priced at €559 with us between 2022 and 2024, but it was withdrawn from sale last week.
The difference is justified quite easily:
- New OLED screen (instead of LCD)
- Face ID (instead of Touch ID)
- Larger battery
- More premium design
- 48 megapixel camera
- Apple 5G modem
Additionally, while the base model should come with 64 GB of storage, some leaks indicate that the iPhone SE 4 could start at 128 GB of storage, which is a better sweet spot.
As always exchange rates will influence the price globally. This means that the cost of the iPhone SE 4 could vary depending on your country, some like France will be well off, others like Brazil paying almost double. Apple will overall strive to keep the price accessible, given that this is its entry-level option.
As seen this weekend, the new version of the iPhone SE should sport a modern design, replacing Touch ID and the home button with an OLED panel and Face ID, similar to the look of the iPhone 14 of 2022. So that Apple is preparing for both the iPhone SE 4 and the iPhone 17 series with major new features on the standard models (including 90/120 Hz), customers will have no excuse not to renew in 2025.
