As seen this afternoon, the Mac mini M4 features a new design that packs more ports into a much more compact chassis, which has unexpected implications. In this case, the power button has moved, and it is not so easy to find.
Indeed, the most attentive among you will have noticed that the power button (Power in English) is now located under the device. So, you will have to lift the Mac mini to turn it on, off or force a restart.
While Apple has been criticized in the past for the placement of buttons and ports on devices such as the Magic Mouse (which is unusable while charging), access to the power button is probably not a common action for most computer users. Typically, Macs don’t need to be shut down regularly; customers instead put them on standby.
If you’re looking for it, the power button is on the left rear of the Mac mini, below the three Thunderbolt ports.
A high-performance Mac mini
The Mac mini 2024 is priced at 699 euros and can be pre-ordered now, with the official launch date set for Friday, November 8, as with the iMac M4 and, likely, the MacBook Pro M4 coming tomorrow.
For this price, you are entitled to the latest M4 chip, 16 GB of RAM, Thunderbolt 5 and HDMI ports, as well as Gigabit Ethernet.
