When we acquire AppleCare+we do it thinking that we can have any accident and lose our device, whether it be a fall of the iPhone, an internal failure of the Mac, or even having it stolen, however, it seems that Apple has unwritten rules that could leave you looking stupid, as has happened to this user.

Apparently, a user with this insurance contracted would have had a car accidentwith a very bad result for his MacBook, which would have bent, producing failures that logically prevent it from working, so he wanted to use his AppleCare+, but it didn't go well.

AppleCare+ does not cover car accidents

When he took it to an Apple Store, the employees told him that they were sorry, but that it was too broken to be fixed, something that, in my opinion, I don't understand either, because if it is stolen, you lose it entirely, and they have to replace itso in this case, if it is irreparable, they should do something similar.

AppleCare workers

There is not much data on the reason that Apple has, according to its bases, to reject this, however, we can read two points that would be what the company would rely on to do so.

  • To repair damage caused by fire, earthquake, flood or other similar external causes
  • To repair damage, including excessive physical damage (for example, products that have been crushed, bent, or submerged in liquid), caused by reckless, abusive, intentional, or intentional conduct

And although they don't really talk about a car accident, we could include it in the reckless conductsince the user accepted that the fault was his, however, we asked ourselves, what would happen if the accident was caused by another driver, since that is something that, previously, Apple does not know.

Be that as it may, we have many left questions about the AppleCare+ serviceand the truth is that it is not at all economical for them to reject this type of cause, which, at least for my part, is why I hire it, since I want to make sure that I always have my Mac available, and I doubt that it is me, voluntarily, who destroys my car so that they can fix my computer, when I could throw it in the trash, and simulate a robbery so that they would give me another one.

We will give Apple the benefit of the doubt, and we will think that the user did something else that they have not told us, since this company is known for its good customer support, and the truth is that I, at least, believed that in these cases they would fix it, since you did not launch it voluntarily, nor have you had an accident due to drunk driving, for example, but rather, despite it being your fault, you have simply collided with the car, and that, for me, is something accidental, not done on purpose.

And you, do you have AppleCare+? Do you think that in this case your Mac should be repaired, no matter how damaged it is, or do you think it's really the user's fault and they shouldn't do it? Leave us a comment.
