Until the iPhone 15, the batteries of the Apple models were attached to their chassis through a kind of glue on a sticker, which played an important role in terms of stability, but when it came to replacing it was quite tedious to remove, because of this. Well, it seems that has changed.
Magnetic battery in iPhone 16
iFixit, a YouTube channel dedicated to this sector, has already opened the iPhone 16, to check its interior, and one of the things that has surprised them the most is this change, which although it requires a special device to be able to replace, it will no longer be necessary to be cleaning the remains of glue, or putting them on the new battery.
It is quite curious, and a change that could come close to what the EU is asking for by 2027, which is that batteries must be able to be replaced by users, or at least in a much simpler way.
We leave the video here, in case you want to take a look. At minute 4:00 you can see how by applying power to the battery, it ends up detaching itself from the device without any problem and without leaving any marks, something that also makes it easier for Apple not to find out that we have manipulated it, since it will go back to its position, without having to use, as we have already said, a glue that, if you have ever tried it, you will realize that it is never the same as the first one, and it is quite dirty to change it, as well as complicated, sometimes, depending on how hard it has acted.
As for the rest of the device, there don’t seem to be any notable changes, although this would be one that Apple obviously didn’t mention in its presentation, but that you have to take into account, especially if you’re dedicated to it, since the way to replace the battery will have changedand you will have to take this into account. In my case, and I’m sure in the case of many of you reading this, it doesn’t matter, since, at least I, don’t dare to change it, for fear of losing the warranty and because it wouldn’t be original, so I prefer to take it to a SAT or Apple Store, where they will also have received training on it.
Are you one of those who takes their iPhone in for repairs, or do you do it yourself? If so, do you think this change will make everything easier, or, on the contrary, would you rather just remove the battery and use another glue, or even not use anything at all, since the previous glue, in many cases, was enough for the new one?, despite the fact that aesthetically there were marks and residue everywhere.
