Surely it is something that you have asked yourself more than once, and that is that, when we buy a new device, whether it is from Apple or not, we do not know what to do with the boxespecially if it is big. It is true that it gives value to the product if we want to sell it, but is it mandatory?
Today we are going to see what Apple says about it, and how long we will have to keep it, whether we want to return it or if we are going to use the warrantywhich today is 3 years, at least in Spain.
Do I have to save the boxes?
Leaving aside the fact that there are people who even sell them, because Apple products lose little value over time, and, therefore, reselling them with a box makes them worth more, it is true that keeping the box can be important, but not always.
Apple will require us to keep it as long as we are going to return the product, that is, within the stipulated period of 14 calendar days from the purchase or receipt of the package (if it is at home). In order to refund the money we will have to return it as it came, even if we are missing some plastic, however, the box and accessories must be intact.
From there, we will not be able to return it, and we will only have the option of using the warranty. To do this, and for the next 3 years, we will not have to have anything, not even the cables or accessories that came with the device.
And it doesn't matter if it's to repair or even to give you another one, you won't need a boxand if, for example, you have an iPhone that is malfunctioning, and they are going to replace it with a new one (reconditioned), they will give it to you as you give it, so nothing will be necessary other than the terminal, no charger, no cables, no box, no stickers, or anything. Of course, the ticket or invoice will be important in many cases, although Apple does not usually ask for it sometimes, so always keep it, although if you have purchased it online, you will have it in your account, associated.
Many people believe that they need to save everything in case one day it fails, but that is not the case, whether it is Apple itself, or an associated store (MediaMarkt, K-Tuin, etc.), they will not require this from you, and if they do they will not be right, and you can claim it, since the Law does not obligate you. Therefore, it not only applies to Apple, but to Amazon, Miravia, or the store you have under your house.
In case you have thrown away the box, be very careful, another one will not work, since these have with them the IMEI, serial number, reference, etc., of the product, so if you return it with one that does not match, they may not accept it, so not only should you not buy another one, but if you have purchased more than one identical product, pay close attention, since not any of them will be worth it, only one. Another thing is that you want to sell a product that is several years old to an individual, second-hand, then it may not matter which one you use, and it is only for aesthetics and safety.
