Windows Phone was the operating system with which Microsoft tried to stand up to iOS and Android a few years ago, and promised a different user experience, but was not successful and ended up forgotten. However, a user has decided to take a twist to his old Nokia Lumia 1020, making him an iPhone.

The Reddit user has made his Windows Phone work with iOS 18.3.1 and emulates the abilities of an iphone se a third generation.

This peculiar experiment has caught the attention of all technology fans and has left many wondering how viable is this curious combination.

How to have an iPhone on a Windows phone

The author of this “Hack”, known in Reddit as OceandandH95028, has documented how the transformation process was, which was not at all simple. To achieve this, he not only installed a different software on the device, but had to completely disassemble the Nokia Lumia and replace its internal components with those of the iPhone SE. In addition to installing a different motherboard, it also had to modify the structure of the terminal so that the iPhone screen fit perfectly. It was also forced to adapt the rear and front camera, in addition to other adjustments for the Touch ID and the SIM card slot.

It seems that it was a complex process, and despite the fact that it was really, the result is a fully functional device, although it has its limitations.

The user nicknamed this new hybrid device as “Lumiphone 1020 se”, joining both names. This mobile is not compatible with wireless load or Apple Pay, but the rest of the functionalities would be available. In addition, the light port that the user himself adapted himself is functional, so the device can be charged without problems.

The most curious thing is that, at first glance, the device retains the appearance of a nokia lumiawhat could make anyone who is a Windows Phone think still in operation. However, once on, the surprise is evident: iOS runs without inconvenience, offering an identical experience to that of any original iPhone.

Nokia with iOS system

These types of modifications remind the times when it was common to see hackintos, computers not manufactured by Apple who managed to execute macOS in foreign hardware thanks to Intel processors. With the arrival of Apple Silicon, these types of experiments have become much more complicated, since Apple's ecosystem is increasingly closed.

Beyond how impressive this modification is, the project also raises questions about hardware compatibility and software in the Apple ecosystem. Could Apple open to the possibility that iOS is executed on third -party devices? The most logical response is a resounding, but experiments like this demonstrates that the community is still interested in challenging the limits of the possible.

For now, the Lumiphone 1020 is just a personal project without commercial intentions, but its existence shows that, with sufficient patience and technical skills, such special experiments can be achieved. Although for many it may seem a sacrilege to have disassembled an iPhone is perfectly functional to create this hybrid, others see it as a demonstration of creativity and technical knowledge.
