Developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) released an updated version of the Dopamine jailbreak tool last night. Numbered 2.1.3, it improves the process for devices running iOS 15, iOS 16 (and iPadOS 15/16), with several important fixes. If you had problems, get the new version.

Dopamine jailbreak gets better!

The latest version, announced via a message shared on the X networkcontains the following changes:

  • Fixed system crashes on some devices causing watchdogd to time out (2.0 regression).
  • Recursively fixed /var/jb/var/mobile permissions across userspace reboots and re-jailbreaks (Fixes file sharing with jailbreak apps still not working for some people).
  • Fix code signing bypass not working on binaries that have an armv6 slice (there is probably not a single binary with such a slice) (regression 2.1).
  • Fixed multicast_bytecopy not working on iPad Mini 6 (Contributed by @m1zole)

Like the latest minor releases, this is to improve the reliability and user experience of the Dopamine jailbreak. iPad mini users are particularly targeted.

Should I update Dopamine?

If you are already using the Dopamine jailbreak, version 2 of which brought support for iOS 16.5 and recent devices like the iPhone 14, we strongly recommend that you update.

When you “root” your iPhone, it is often less stable and more prone to possible malicious attacks. Patches are there to avoid any inconvenience.

Existing users can update to the latest version of Dopamine directly from the app, which includes an internal update mechanism from where you can download and install the latest update and then reboot, without any computer.

How to install Dopamine?

New users should refer to our tutorial to install Dopamine for the first time. The process involves installing TrollStore and then downloading the latest version from the GitHub page of the project and use TrollStore to perma-sign it.

Currently, Dopamine jailbreak only supports the following firmware and device combinations:

  • iOS 15.0-16.6.1 on devices with A8-A11 chip
  • iOS 15.0-16.5.1 and 16.6 beta 1-4 on devices with A12-A14 and M1 chip
  • iOS 15.0-16.5 and 16.6 beta 1-4 on devices with A15-A16 and M2 chip
